Dinner at Le Bernardin →

adamfrucci:

This article, by a Denver food critic who went to Le Bernardin here in NYC, perfectly encapsulates why I’m a food junkie and the utter joy that comes from having one of those truly rare meals that just feels like something so special you don’t have anything to compare it to.

I fucking love food…good food, that is.  In fact, I’m in a dorm room right now at UCLA eating a piece of pecorino cheese with honey wheat pretzels and washing it down with a Fullers London Pride, but that’s neither here nor there.

In December of last year I went to Le Bernardin.  I saved for three months for the seven-course chef’s tasting menu.  The courses were mostly seafood and each one was paired with a wine.  That’s seven courses and SEVEN glasses of wine (x2…I went with my wife).  It was, by far, the BEST meal I’ve ever had.  I dropped $500 on that meal and would do it again in a heartbeat (or rather, in three-month saving cycles).

If $500 is out of your price range, I recommend buying a gun for $300, kidnapping Eric Ripert, and forcing him to cook for you at gun point.  He’ll understand.

SNL: Surprise Party

I am consistently amazed by Kristen Wigg’s ability to create hilarious characters from such simple premises.
