The Lark Bunting (Calamospiza melanocorys) is a medium-sized sparrow.  These birds have a large pale bill and a pale wing patch. Adult males in breeding plumage are black except for their white wing patch.  It is the state bird of Colorado.

The California Gull Larus californicus is a medium-sized gull.  Adults are similar in appearance to the Herring Gull, but have a smaller yellow bill with a black ring, yellow legs, brown eyes and a more rounded head. The body is mainly white with grey back and upper wings.  It is the lame state bird of Utah.

It is migratory, ranging from southern Canada to North Carolina during the breeding season, and from just south of the Canadian border to Mexico during the winter.  It is the state bird of Washington.

Alan Watts was a philosopher, writer, speaker, and student of comparative religion.  He was best know as an interpreter and popularizer of Eastern philosophies for Western audiences.

He’s dead now, but you can subscribe to a free podcast of his lectures on iTunes.  He was an incredible speaker and his lectures are always interesting.

My great uncle, Ion Țuculescu, was an artist.
This is one of his totem paintings that he did towards the end of his life.  At this point I think he was claiming to hear voices in the walls of his house.
